ALL SAINTS, PENARTH, VALE OF GLAMORGAN
All Saints is an early 19th century hall church which was extensively rebuilt following war damage. It has a light but plain interior which was felt to be unwelcoming to the growing congregation.
Caroe & Partners were appointed to consider re-ordering to provide meeting rooms, lavatories and servery without the loss of significant seating space.
The first phase of work is the creation of a west gallery with meeting and service rooms below. The whole interior was redecorated and new lighting installed.
Our approach to the design is for the new work to read as a new high quality insertion consistent with the original building but using material such as sheet glass for balustrading and well detailed oak panelling and doors. The finished project has received wide support from the congregation and is credited with making the church more attractive and accessible to the wider community.
Father Peter Cox: - ‘I am delighted with the finished product! The project delivered a host of new facilities and has enhanced the beauty of the building with its sensitive redecoration and lighting system. As a parish, we would heartily recommend Caroe and Partners as the grateful recipients of excellent work.’
